Hats: An Anthology by Stephen Jones
The Victoria and Albert Museum in London is hosting Hats: An Anthology by Stephen Jones at the Bard Graduate Center in New York City from September 15, 2011 to April 15, 2012. Being the first venue in the US, it is highly anticipated and is expected to draw hoards of visitors hoping to see a bit of history. Displaying more than 250 hats including a twelfth-century Egyptian fez,1950s Balenciaga hat, and an extensive couture collection, this exhibition shows the evolution of hats and the fashions they embody, as well as our ever-continuous admiration for exotic hats.
As in the original first opening of this exhibition earlier this year in London, the collection is broken down into four categories — Inspiration, Creation, The Salon, and The Client. Weaving a story as captivating as the threads that forged them, the visitor travels through the tale of how the evolution of time helped to sculpt the design and fashion of the era, how the hat was created with the traditions and innovation of the environment, the fabulous salons that harbored them, and the just-as-equally-fabulous people who wore them.
This is a beautiful exhibition and a great opportunity for those who love fashion, sculpture, and art. The bright colors of Philip Treacy, Christian Dior, Chanel and many more showcase their finest pieces of whimsy, grace, beauty, and life.
NYC Fashion Week
Reed Krakoff was one of the first designers to display their Spring 2012 line in New York City’s highly anticipated fashion week. His designs display the use of bold colors such as orange and shades of yellow, bringing further flair to his intricately cut and tailored silhouettes. The collection also includes and showstopping abstract bird print on silk. The fluttery moment to the fabric gave this look – bright with vibrant yellows and rich reds- a feminine quality. Bold and contemporary, this collection displays the movement of silk, the structure of tailoring, and the soft buttery look of leather and warm tones.
So much more fashion to come from New York. We love fashion week!
housewives.
You might not know that we carry a fabulous line of cocktail and evening wear at POSH from Teri Jon. As an avid watcher of Bravo, I noticed some of my favorite housewives attended the Teri Jon Spring 2011 fashion show in the fall. Come shop the Fall 2011 collection at POSH!
To the left is a photo of Real Housewives of NYC stars Countess Luann de Lesseps, Alex McCord, Ramona Singer, Kelly Bensimonand Jill Zarin. The ladies posed for a group shot as they attended Teri Jon’s spring 2011 fashion presentation in New York City. Kelly walked in the show.
Our designer at POSH, Janell Berte, attended a Teri Jon event during the same weekend.
