Donald Blyler Events

Donald Blyler has party planning in his blood; even his college friends say he was destined to be as an extraordinary event planner. As far back as Donald can remember, his family has always cherished funky parties – giving him his natural flair for planning. During the week of the local floods of Lancaster City, he still managed to entice 350+ guest to his fabulous official launch party at the Lancaster Quilt and Textile Museum.
After he graduated Elizabethtown College at the age of 21, he started his career in Washington DC on the special events team for a non profit organization that organized parties and benefits including such celebrities at Mikhail Baryshnikov and Barbra Streisand. His vibrant and bubbly personalty is a joy, and it quickly became apparent that he is passionate for planning and that it runs deep.

Stephanie for POSH Bridal: What make you different from other event planners?

Blyler: It’s my attention to every little detail. You learn those things quickly when you’re planning parties under the name of a great organization that hosts parties to celebrities. When you’ve looked at things from every possible angle and have achieved an effortless polished look, you know you’ve done well and that people are going to be happy. That’s really what it’s all about. I’ve always loved seeing people get together and laugh. It always makes me happy.

SPB: What about wedding events?

Blyler: It’s a beautiful moment in everyone’s life and you can really pull the emotions from the bride; it becomes personal. In the whirlwind of emotions, it’s beyond key to make that vision comes true and to create that memory perfectly. I’ve personally been there and it’s really hard to plan your own wedding! You get so involved is so many things… it’s a good feeling when you know someone is there to take care of things while you prepare for your big day. Having a planner is a BIG help!

SPB: What type of trends do you see in wedding planning?

Blyler: Well, I know on the west coast it’s more about a casual event with cocktails and a natural flow that people can follow, to chat and mingle. It’s gone astray from fine dining and more along the lines of the relaxed couch reception.

SPB: What trends to you see in social or business events?

Blyler: It’s moving beyond the traditional sit-down dinner and more towards partnership, community, and getting as creative as possible. We’re seeing comfort food being done in a sexy way.

SPB: Do you do bridal parties?

Blyler: Yes!

SPB: What would be your dream event?

Blyler: I’d love to do a benefit fashion show in Lancaster. I’m talking couture hair and crazy make-up!

SPB: If you could pick anywhere in Lancaster to do an event, where would it be?

Blyler: On the top of the new downtown parking garage.

SPB: Planning any special events?

Blyler: Only a fabulous party coming next March – that’s all I’m going to say!

In lieu of favors…

contribute

A tulle bag of candy as a wedding favor may be cute and delicious but it fails to leave a lasting impression on wedding guests. As more businesses move towards economically and environmentally cautious products, brides to be are looking to do the same.

Wedding favors that are aimed towards charitable organizations that hold special meaning to the bride or groom are rapidly becoming popular. Organizations like Hope For Africa, PRODUCT (Red), and the Humane League are just a few options within the realm of fantastic charity organizations. My sister recently had a wedding and chose to donate to PRODUCT(Red) to relieve AIDS in Africa. With her connections to GAP, GAP was able to match the donations made to the dollar, doubling the size of the donation to an organization that means so much to us.
